Sailfish and King Mackerel In February
Our own Captain Tony of the Coolwater led quite a successful fishing expedition today, travelling twenty-five miles west of Key West. Anchored off the edge of a reef, his clients pulled in plenty of Cero Mackerel, Yellowtail Snapper, and Bonita utilizing live bait and light tackle. Tony also saw some nice success for his clients utilizing live bait on a kite, nabbing a Sailfish and King Mackerel reaching thirty-five pounds. The big score on this charter was a two-hundred and twenty pound Hammerhead Shark.
Our own Captain Bill of the Outcast had some fun today, leading a group of younger kids between the ages of ten to thirteen for an exhilarating day of wreck fishing. Utilizing live Herring as bait above a wreck in two hundred feet of water, the kids really had some fun hauling in Amberjacks, Bar Jacks and Mutton Snapper.
Even though the weather has been unusually chilly lately, we anticipate that the warm front on Sunday should begin to elevate the water temperatures in the area. The fishing around the Florida Keys should improve more and more as we head into spring.
Good anglin',
