Key West Grouper

Red grouper is scientifically known as Epinephelus morio. It is native to the Southern Hemisphere, and is especially abundant in the waters of Brazil, Cuba, andKey West, particularly during the months of May through December.

Groupersare quite common in the waters surrounding the Florida Keys. Among the species most popularly sought after by fishing enthusiasts is the gag grouper, a bottom feeder with less distinguished color markings than its cousins.
