Key West Fishing Reports

The Sailfish run continues to provide ample opportunities for deep sea action to the south of Key West. Recently, a ton of Cobia has been swimming along the surface with the billfish. Bill Wallace, skipper of our charter vessel, the Outcast, guided a client to catch an impressive 72-lb. Cobia.

Down here in the Florida Keys, the weather has been pleasant with the winds blowing from the east, creating idyllic offshore conditions. This is the peak time of year to hunt for Sailfish to the south of Key West at the color change. Every one of our charter boats that have ventured offshore to the south of the Keys has enjoyed success in snagging Sailfish.

As April approaches, we have seen the temperature really warm up in the area. Along with the warming trend, saltwater fishing has become active in the Florida Keys. If you would like to pick from a menu of fabulous fishing options, now is the time to vacation in Key West.

This is the best time of year to visit Key West; the unbelievable spring temperatures provide the perfect atmosphere for an exciting fishing charter. This weather is ideal for an array of fishing charters from the docks in Key West, including Tarpon angling in Key West Harbor, light tackle action at a reef or wreck, off shore fishing at the color change, and Blackfin angling on the gulf side.

Since the temperatures in Key West have risen with the arrival of spring, trophy Tarpon have swarmed into the harbor. I just got off the horn with our skipper of the Outcast, Capt. Bill; one of his anglers has a Tarpon hooked right now. We've been guiding plenty of excursions to fish the channels of Key West Harbor; they've had tremendous success, snagging Tarpon up to 150 lbs.
