Key West Fishing Reports

Our captains have seen some success offshore recently; their clients have been catching Dolphin and Sailfish in the tremendously deep waters (between one thousand and two thousand feet)out near the wall, some Wahoo stalking beneath floating structure like logs in deep water, and Blackfin Tuna in approximately six hundred feet of water.

The angling has been hot for a number of excellent game fish near Key West. The Sailfish and Mahi Mahi have been heading out to the deepwater (between depths of seven hundred and eleven hundred feet) but are still biting well. These pelagic species move off the reef as the water temperature rises.

This is a great season to enjoy some excellent fishing adventure in Key West, Florida. The weather is sunny and clear and the fish are biting off shore as well as inshore. In Key West Harbor, our savvy guides have been leading anglers on plenty of successful Tarpon fishing excursions.

On the Coolcast, I ventured out to the Wall for some deep sea angling on Tuesday. The Wall is a sheer undersea precipice where the depth drops from 1000 feet to an astonishing 2000 feet. We often head out to this region, located 25 miles from Key West, for some offshore fishing during the summer season.

So far this week, my charters have been successful both offshore and inshore. On the Coolwater, we completed the workweek by heading offshore on Thursday, and staying in Key West Harbor on Friday.
