Key West Fishing Report - November 2014
While November is typically one of the slower months of the year when it comes to fishing in Key West, this month has kept the momentum going from the spectacular previous ones. There have been tons of spectacular catches that were hauled in on each one of our Key West fishing charters. Despite the fact that some warm water species have moved on to different waters, such as the Bonefish, there have been many different species just itching to bite at the lures this month.
The greatest aspect of November fishing has been the huge variety that we've seen on our Key West fishing charters. For instance, Black Grouper are being reeled in at an exceedingly high rate, particularly out on our specialty charters. Though they've been a bit tricky to reel in for some of the anglers visiting from other areas, the large sizes that have been on display this month have more than made up for the effort spent catching them. The month of November has also proved to be a great time for those fishing for Wahoo, as this large game fish has been showing up in abundance.
Among the many other fish that we've caught this month, the most prevalent have been Permit, Yellowtail Snapper and Spanish Mackerel. Each of these colorful species of fish are still in great numbers in these Key West waters. One of the primary reasons for this is due to the great weather we've been seeing this month. While it can get windy at times and there have been a couple of rainstorms throughout the month, the actual fishing conditions have been quite splendid, no matter the type of fishing that is being done. Whether flats fishing, deep sea fishing, surf fishing or even specialty fishing, the good weather has really facilitated the catching of some of the larger hauls this month.
Throughout the entire month of November, we've been seeing temperatures in the high 70's and low 80's, which has really helped to stave off the disappearance of a few of the warm water species of fish. Some of our best catches have happened just after an evening rainstorm when a large number of fish begin to feed again, allowing many of our anglers to take in hauls of multiple fish. While these late year months don't see quite as many fish as some of the summer months, it does make way for a much larger variety than usual. While some of the aforementioned fish, such as the Yellowtail Snapper and Black Grouper, have been the most common to spot on our fishing charters, we've also had a few anglers reel in some Barracudas, Redfish and Sword Fish. As December is quickly approaching, the fantastic fishing conditions for much of this month, as well as the prevalence of some of the best species of fish in Key West, make it appear as though December is going to be another amazing month of fishing for the many anglers that decide to take one of our Key West fishing charters out onto the open water.
