The white marlin is known for its distinctive, spear-like upper jaw (one that’s more than twice as long as its bottom jaw) and for its tall, fan-shaped dorsal fin, which runs almost the entire length of its body.
The grouper could be likened to a big lug: It’s a fish with a face “only a mother could love” (that is, it’s not attractive). Groupers have large mouths and relatively heavy bodies. They can grow to be rather large – some have been known to be six feet long and 500 pounds.
Great Barracuda are curious creatures. They’re also quite dangerous and very fearsome in appearance. They’re solitary predators who love the shallows and reefs common to Florida.
Amberjacks and the reefs and wrecks that surround Florida and the Keys seemed to be made for each other because amberjacks love reefs, wrecks and shallow water.
