One of the most-prized trophies of tropical waters is the Swordfish. Adults usually measure about 9.5 feet in length, and the record weight for a rod-and-reel catch stands at 1,182 for a fish taken in Chilean waters.
Blue marlin are perhaps some of the most beautiful of deep sea water fish. They’re one of the largest of Atlantic marlins and are – truthfully – some of the largest fish found anywhere in the world. Females – which are much larger than their male counterparts – can reach 14 feet in length and can weigh – are you ready? – almost one ton!
The white marlin is known for its distinctive, spear-like upper jaw (one that’s more than twice as long as its bottom jaw) and for its tall, fan-shaped dorsal fin, which runs almost the entire length of its body.
Sailfish are found throughout the warmer and more temperate of the Earth’s oceans. They are a bluish-grey in color and have white underbellies. Their name comes from a dorsal fin that extends almost the length of their body.
