Fantastic Sailfish Fishing In April

The Sailfish run to the south of Key West has really been fantastic this spring. Our charters have seen incredible success catching these feisty billfish. For the last few days the winds have been unusually strong, creating rough conditions deep sea and keeping all but the largest yachts from heading to the color change. Unfortunately this bad weather corresponded with the beginning of the World Sailfish Angling Championship. The vessels that were able to navigate the seven foot waves still managed to nab over four hundred Sailfish in only two days. The weather forecast has indicated that weather conditions on Saturday should return to normal; Sailfish angling on the Atlantic side of the Florida Keys should be phenomenal this weekend. We also anticipate that the light tackle fishing will improve as the visibility gets better after the rough seas become calm. Even with the cloudy water stirred up by the offshore waves, Captain Bill, while skippering our boat, the Coolwater, witnessed one of his anglers pull in a monster Tarpon tipping the scales at over 130 lbs.

Tight lines and trophy trips,

Capt. Chris Garcia
