Catch of the Week - May 14, 2014
The waters having been roaring, and it’s been a little rough out to sea, but it has given Key West and the Florida Keys some of the best fishing we’ve seen in a long time. We’re guessing all the snowbirds have left to go north for the summers, because we’ve had a lot of people from Florida come on our fishing charters.
We have had some amazing luck with deep sea fishing, and have even caught a few sailfish, tarpon, and bluefin tunas in the waters surrounding Key West. Our favorite catch of the week was caught by Daniel and his sons, Craig and Corey, while visiting Key West of Florida.
On the Ultra Grand Slam, these guys caught an estimated 80-pound Mahi Mahi, off the coast of Key West. They were really excited to take it home to cook up for dinner for the whole family. And we couldn’t be more excited to have given them the experience to do so!
Mahi-Mahi is one of the few fish in Key West that when it is caught, it changes different colors, from blue and silver, to greens and golds, due to its stress level.
