Key West Fishing Reports

Fishing Report - June 5th 2010

If you are looking to enjoy some fantastic light tackle angling, be sure to visit us this time of year in the Keys for an exciting inshore excursion with our savvy fishing guides. We've been running charters day and night out to the reef south of Key West to take advantage of the Snapper spawn. In the late afternoon until around 9 pm, we've been sending our charter boats out to the Atlantic reef to fish for Mutton Snapper. Early in the day, we've been catching our limit of 3 and 4 pound Yellowtail Snapper using chum and cut bait. Each angler is allowed to catch ten of these delicious fish per day. Mutton Snapper, Yellowtail Snapper, Black Grouper, and Red Grouper are all great tasting fish and plentiful at the reef this time of year.  The currents from the west are creating fine angling conditions at the reef. This morning on our charter vessel, the Outcast, Captain Smith guided a successful excursion to the reef, with everyone nabbing their limit of Yellowtail Snapper.

Our charters have also seen great success light tackle fishing for Tarpon in Key West Harbor. This week on the Coolwater, our own Captain Wallace saw one of his clients haul in a monster 130-pound Tarpon.

Tight lines and trophy trips,

Capt. Chris Garcia
