Key West Fishing Reports

Fishing Report - March 12th 2010

We have been fortunate to see sunshine and rising temperatures this week in Key West Florida. The fishing should heat up with the temps. Our boats had four successful fishing charters to close out the work week. Capt. Tony took the Coolwater on two deep sea charters at the point where the Gulf Stream meets the inshore water and causes a visible change in the water's color. His anglers caught three Sailfish on Thursday's expedition and two on Friday's charter. On the Outcast, Capt. Bill took his party to the rock piles to fish the bottom. His party hauled in their limit of Mangrove Snapper, also pulling in plentiful Lane Snapper, and some Cobia. Capt. Damon guided a mixed charter today; his clients were smiling from ear to ear as they scored their limit of Yellowtail Snapper at the reef. They also saw plenty of action offshore, where schooly Mahi were very active.

With the wind blowing towards the east in the same direction that the Gulf Stream passes the Keys, the water should be calm around the reefs.  We'll be guiding charters out there this weekend.

If you are a Tarpon fishing aficionado, you should be smiling because our charter captains report that these terrific game fish started to run well in the northwest channel as well as in the harbor. We should see some trophy Tarpon through the spring and summer.

We look forward to seeing you in Key West,

Captain Chris Garcia
