Key West Fishing Reports

Fishing Report - February 12th 2010

Captain Bill of our charter vessel, the Outcast, reports having a nice day on the Atlantic side of Key West on Tuesday. In addition to pulling in six King Mackerels to the south of the Keys, his anglers also managed to hook a forty-pound Wahoo. Our captains have seen some nice success using live bait on the Atlantic side. Although temperatures have been relatively colder this winter, offshore fishing remains consistent due to the warm waters pumped into the area from the Gulf Stream.

Although a massive front will move through the Keys on Saturday and limiting fishing for that day due to high winds and rough seas, Sunday should be another excellent day for Deep Sea Fishing to the south of Key West. After this front blows through, the region could see a new influx of fish species. The winds should be shifting to blow out of the north at fifteen knots, providing great conditions for Sailfish, Blackfin Tuna, and occasional Wahoo and Dolphin. Wreck fishing on the Atlantic side should also yield some nice fish, including Mutton Snapper and Amberjack.
