Every now and then a Charter Captain comes along that is as familiar with the water as he is with dry land. Captain Rob Delph may be that Captain for you. Captain Rob has been fishing since he was a small boy. He fondly recalls moments when he was one with nature and would spend the day fishing as his prime activity.

He would only stop fishing when his mother would call him in for meals or bedtime. All this fishing created a disciplined and experienced young man. In fact, by the age of six he bagged his first Sailfish, which was later mounted by his father and remains in the family today.

Captain Rob grew up to fish alongside his father. Rob’s father works as a Charter Captain, as well, and Rob looked to his father’s experience to become a better Captain and a more knowledgeable guide. Rob had always dreamt of fulfilling his dream of becoming a charter Captain and through he passed his Coast Guard Captain’s exam he knew that the title of Captain meant little. At the time, he still had plenty that he needed to learn.

The most important thing to Captain Rob was doing whatever it took to become a good Captain and a great guide. He wanted to share his love for the water and for fishing with people of all ages that were looking to experience something new. Having all this in mind, Rob trained under his father as he skillfully mastered his own style for the tours that he gives today.

Captain Rob has several First Place placement trophies to show just how good he is at what he does. While he has won and tied in many of the competitions, he has also placed high in numerous other tournaments. Captain Rob took second place in the light tackle category of the Texaco Keys Classic in both 1993 and 1999.

Never one to settle for second best, in 1994, and two years later for three consecutive years (1996-1998), Captain Rob took home the light tackle trophy for the Texaco Keys Classic. The year 1999 brought a first place trophy for the SKA Hogsbreath Kingfish Tournament. However, one of the tournaments that stand out the most occurred in 1997 when he tied with his father for the Grand Achievement Trophy.

Over 30 IGFA fishing records have been attained by clients that decided to take one of Captain Rob’s charters. Today, when he is not busy leading clients to IGFA records he is taping video and television spots. These spots will help to influence the production and further the development of excellent fishing products that he can endorse and use when taking his new friends out on the Key West water to bag some fish.

The Second Generation is Captain Rob’s 31foot custom Sea Vee.

Powered by Twin 250 hp Yamaha Outboard engines the Second Generation, also has a 200-gallon fuel capacity. Onboard, the Second Generation has a live bait-well and a live tank. Additionally, anglers can enjoy the freshwater and/or saltwater washing areas.
